Trapper Modification
« on: July 08, 2003, 11:52:46 AM »
After five years, my Win 94 Trapper developed a cratered-out barrel where the magazine cap screw interfaced.  I pinned back the metal but the accuracy never returned.  Took the gun to the local smith for help.  I had him cut a dovetail slot and insert a blank under the barrel where the screw entered the bottom of the barrel.  Blank was drilled out oversize.  Also had him insert a neoprene washer.  Screw was still "floated" but the washer now takes the battering.  Couldn't be more pleased.  Shoots better than it ever did.  Can get five shots in the "X" ring of a B 8 target at 50 yards with my 45 Colt.  Came close before, but never could quite get it together.
