I am just curious bout what kinds of bows the other guys on this sight shoot. The limb on my bow snapped and if it cant be fixed I will be in the market for a new bow. Soo give me the low down on what you all shoot. Soud level, speed, killing efficeincy, etc. Thanks for the help.

If you are talking compounds I shoot a Mathews Conquest. Low noise level, Very good speed. Accurate. And I prefer a longer bow so the conquest fits the bill.

I shoot a Mathews Icon. Its very smooth to draw and very quiet at the shot. The Mathews bow I've owned before were all nice quiet bows to shoot and did not seem to benefit from having stabilizers on them. I still have three Oneida bows, they are a bit long and heavy for me to carry, but they shoot great and are the smoothest bows I have ever drawn. Martin make some fine bows too, as does Hoyt, and I still have a few of each. The bow I reach for most often is the Icon. Draw as many bows as you can before you decide what is coming home with you. Don't overlook taking a used bow for a test shot, its a good way to learn what you can expect from that bowyer' product after you have had it for a while. Good luck with your next bow.

I have a couple of Martin Cougar Magnums that I use that are configured the same. They fit me and the type of hunting I do.

I believe that it is more important to find a rig that fits both your physical characteristics as well as the type of hunting you will be doing. Only way to do that is to look over the specs and then try them out.

By the way I bought both of my Cougars used and have been perfectly satisified with them in addition to saving a lot of money.

I sure do love my Hoyt Magnatecs. I bought one two years ago and really like it. Being lefthanded, I decided I needed a good back-up bow because it is so hard to find a good one in any shop. I got one almost like mine from Archery Experts online at a very good price. Check out their prices on non-current Hoyt models, you might get a very good deal. I have bought from them a couple of times and will again. Jim

What it all boils down to is all of the major manufacturers and even some of the smaller outfits make excellent bows.

Your best bet is to go to a reputable pro shope (Ask around!) and have them let you try out the bows they carry. If they won't do this for you, find another one.

Give them the your price range and put them to work. Find a bow that fits YOU. Look for a bow that draws smoothly and shoots quietly. Speed ain't nearly as important as the manufacturers want you to believe. Again, any of the major's bows will shoot fast enough for hunting.

I'm using a Buckmaster 320 I picked up a few years ago. If I had the money, I'd be looking at the Hoyt's.

The 320 has performed great for what I paid for it though. I've taken several deer with it and Gold Tip arrows.

On last years Hoyts did they still have the cam & 1/2?? The Hoyt dealer around here has his priced at $620. Is that in the ballpark??

bowman, depends on what hoyt for $620. If it is a Razortec, Havoctec, Or Ultratec that sounds about right.
BTW, This is the first year Hoyt has the Cam 1/2.
Also, if you are looking at the new razortec, also compare it to the Magnatec. I haven't done so but people tell me they are relatively the same. Mainly just priced differently.

By my name you should see what i own and even with a two year old Hoyt, it still shoots like a dream.

It's quiet, light, 38" axle to Axle. And my IBO should be somewhere around 270 to 275 fps. Shooting 60lbs with a 27 1/2 draw length and Easton Carbon excel arrows with 100 grain tips. This bow is a killer.
Raw bow cost me $420 BRAND NEW. Magna tecs are the way to go if you don't want to spend a whole lot of money but still want a great shooting bow.

I was just over at the shop shooting an 8 week video tournament and all Hoyt models he carries are $620. I shot the razortec along with 2 Bowtech models. After shooting my dads old bow (he just bought a matthews lx) either make shot like a dream. I was also looking at a PSE Firestorm Lite. Anybody out there shoot one??

I have shot most all brands and really like the new Mathews, but don't overlook the new CP Oneidas. I am really impressed with the smoothness, speed and quiet shooting characteristics.

C. Pollington has really revamped that bow line. I reluctantly tried a new Pro model and just can't put it down.
