« on: July 08, 2003, 01:01:50 PM »
i have a old style contender (it has the screw in back of hammer i have never shot this frame i also have the 223 barrel on it i have never shot until  today. my problem is it wont shoot there is a very small dent in primer ( very small ) after 5 or 6 tries it would probably go off i could hold back trigger and pull back hammer and let it fall it would shoot so i dont think its the barrel. and if i send back to T/C wont they upgrade the hammer that i like the way it is . i am leaning towards firing pin but need doctors advice any help would be appreciated         :?  :?

headspace or locking lugs

Sounds like the headspace might be a little off on the 223 rounds.  Take out the extractor and drop in a loaded round.  If it sticks a little above the barrel, there you have the problem.  Also closely listen to the sound of the gun when it locks up empty and loaded.  Should sound exactly the same.  The locking lugs may not be matched well enough to lock up properly.  A good TC gunsmith should be able to fix it.  Dan

Les, drop the folks at T/C (tech@tcarms.com) an Email - I had the same problem and they sent me an easy to install part that ended the problem. Their customer service is excellent.  Enjoy your new toy!
