I have 2 frames of the older style ,one I had converted to the easy open style, not a huge difference over the original set up to me.
I have a few barrels 222,7 mm tcu,223,357 10 inch,222,7/30 waters,30/30,357 herrett,30 herrett,41 mag.44 mag,22 LR,222,22 hornet 14 inchers,30/30,222,22 hornet,7mm tcu 21 inchers.
All are fun to shoot and more accurate than I am,the 7 mm tcu and 357 Herrett are a bit harsh with certain loads.I use the 222 10 inch for my "convert a pell" conversion.I have 1/2 inch groups at 50 feet with this set up.Saves me a road trip to the range with little noise too.I have found that a 22 cal pellet with a primer in a regular case works as well as the adapters they sell for $20.00 for 4 cases.Lots of fun from home when neighbors are at work. (I dought it is legal in city limits) I cast most of my own bullets except 22 cal,and group at best 2" at 100 yards with each caliber (before shoulder surgery) now I am gettting around 4" groups,at age 50 maybe its the shoulder, maybe the eyes who knows. Its all therapy anyway. Love the simplisity of the contender.
