If you have all that around your area then i would say get some guys and push the swamp, then the pines, thick timber, light timber and then the field.
-Explanation why that sounds best-
Swamps first because they provide a bears favorite food (berries) and good shelter and plenty of cover. I suspect a bear will be here first.
Pines because if you notice, a lot of swamps are bordered with pine. Well, if it's anything like the swamps i've been in anyway.
not only that but also because it provides them excellent cover and they can climb pines rather quickly if they needed. And still provides food.
Thick timber next because here is where you'll find you laurel bushes and other low laying bushes. offers food, shelter, cover, and a VERY quick escape if danger (you) presented itself.
Then on to light timber because Most of PA is just that. Look for sasafrass trees, berry trees, pine trees, Banks with rocks or holes.
I say if the field is less than 100 acres then don't bother with it. Maybe during drives you can have someone watch over it and even watch an hour after the drive. But fields don't offer much security for them. So even if you see one, it won't stick around too long.
BTW, where in NE PA are you?? I'm in White Haven
