Naa Companion - Any good?
« on: February 29, 2008, 07:00:55 PM »
I've been thinking about picking up one of these mini cab and bal revolvers for a while now...talk me into (or out of) it!

They look like fun, inexpensive plinkers that would give a lot of satisfaction.

Anyone care to comment?

Never had anything to do with the cap & ball minis, buy I and several of my friends have North American and Freedom Arms 22 cartridge minis, and we all like them.  If you get one, I believe lead #4 buckshot will work for balls, and be cheaper than buying 100 per box balls.
I rode with him,---------I got no complaints. ---------Cowpox

I've got two of these and they are fun to plink with. You definitely want to use the NAA bullets as .22 balls would be too light to be bothered with. The gun uses FFFFg powder and is very economical to shoot. Don't expect gilt edged accuracy, but you will have a ball slaying tin cans and threatening sticks lying on the ground. My pearl handled Civil War Companion with its spare cylinder and acouterments was well worth the money.  The long cylinder version is the way to go as I doubt the short version has much power at all.

I have one of the long cylinder ones and it shoots just fine with FFFG and the bought bullets they sell for it.  At 10 to 15 feet I can hit a pop can with it.  It does not have much power but it is fun to shoot.

I tried FFFg too, but FFFFG gives it a bit more zing. Enough to make it worth while. With such a small boiler room and such a short barrel, these little guns need all the help they can get.
