I have to say that I never thought of this concept before last Saturday. I was walking across the street when I was struck by a drunk driver. He hit me just behind my midline on the right side. God was definately with me as I was hit at about 35 mph and sustained no major injuries or broken bones (chipped a couple of the 'ears' on my lower verbrae). But I do have major bruising and swelling and will hurt for some time. What does this have to do with concealed carry? The truck hit me exactally over my blade tech holster and my S&W .38 snub. It looks like the holster spread the impact over a wider area resulting in less injuries. So the next time someone ask's you why you carry and you answer 'for protection', it just may have a wider meaning than what they think. 44 Man

Ha ha. The gun appears to be fine. I have not checked it close, it could have a spring crane, but on first appearances, it seems ok. Cylinder spins freely and it functions fine. I'm plenty sore, probably should have been wearing my .45, that would have spread the impact over a larger area!

I know this is useless information as you have always seemed too be intelligent and level headed, BUT, don't be so anxious to shuck those doctors until everybody is sure about everything.

44 man : you did not test it for function when you realized you were alive then I presume..? ... I bet the gun will nestle in there even better now that your body is rearranged to fit it... probably retain it with a wad of chewing gum if you fit it right in the impression it left...

Now : would a bisley 44 special have protected you better ? a 45 colt five shot ? a ruger would have had more mass for sure....
