Does anyone know where I can find this book?  Tried Amazon.com, no luck.

No one sells it except LBT.  Go to           www.LBTMoulds.com               and you'll find it along with most of our other offerings, or email me direct and I'll quote you a price with postage to wherever in the world you live.         LBTisAccuracy@Imbris.net

I just bought one at a gun show last week. It looked rather old and looked like it was hand typed, but the information was well represented and explained. It had a copyright date of 1984. The author's name was spelled Verl Smith. Is that any relation to our moderator Veral? It wasn't until I read this that I noticed the similarity in the names.

I bought a copy several years ago and learned a lot from it. It was in paperback and rather poorly bound, and after awhile some of the pages fell out. Last year I bought a new one. This one is spiral bound and, in addition to keeping the pages where they belong, it lays flat when you open it. Handy when you're doing something on your bench with frequent referrals to the book.

Any beginning bullet caster is cheating himself if he doesn't get a copy of this book. I've read it from cover to cover several times and every time I do I learn something that I missed before.

The third edition 3 was written in 1990 and contains roughly twice the information of edition 2 which was written in 1984.  If you have the older version you'll find it well worth your money to purchase the thrid edtion. When I reprinted in 2003 I chose the spiral binding because of the poor binding of the first two editions.

Veral,

I have your 2nd and 3rd editions.  I re-read the 3rd edition from time to time and find something I missed (or didn't quite understand) every time.  I hope you realize how important a contribution your book is to the world of cast bullet shooting.  It is a landmark publication.

From reading your posts here at this site, I realize there is much more to be learned that is not in the book.  Do you have any plans for a 4th edition that includes this additional info?

If so, put my name on the list for a copy.  If not, PLEASE consider it.  We need all the help we can get.

Thank you for the compliment Shakey.  I have considered seriously writing a 4th edition, as I could not smooth the whole book up considerably and add at least double the information.  But I think most people who know a little about my recent history understand our problems, and that both time and money very limited around here.  What most don't realize is that producing a new book is expensive and VERY time consuming, while financial returns are VERY slow for a cast bullet book, due to the limited interest, compared to other literature.  It took us probably 4 years to recover our printing cost with the third edition, with nothing for my time, which was all spare time for several months!

Hopefully things will change for the better in the future, but lean on this forum until then!

I don't know all the fine points of it, but I'd think publishing as an e-book would cut costs considerably.

Veral,

I sorta figured it would be hard to find time to write while working for a living.  But, you are right, I didn't realize it was that expensive to publish.

It guess it is just selfish of me but, I still HOPE you find a way to write and publish that 4th edition.  Meanwhile, thanks for all the help you offer here freely.  I'll be hangin' around.

Thank you, and I'm still hoping to get time myself, but more importantly that the economy picks up so it would be practical.   But I've lived too long and seen too much deliberately destroyed by our politicians and bankers to have any hope of the life the US has known for quite a few years.  For at least 10 to 20 years.  If an E book would cost less to publish is not the real concern though.  It's my time in writing a lot of new information when what I have going out now answers more than most cast bullet shooters can get under their belt!

Veral, bought your first edition over 20 years ago. It's the most used book on my reloading bench. Instead of trying to write a complete new book, maybe you could just do a suplement. Write it up on your computer, and get a couple hundred copies at an Office Depot, or Staples store.(If you have any close buy) Sell the suplement for $$. Be alot cheaper than a whole new book. gypsyman

Even writing a suppliment would be very time consuming, and I wouldn't like it, as it would fragment things too much.  Also, I'm quite hung up on using local printers, as they beat the office supply prices considerably, give higher quality and keep the money local.  The big office suppy stores that can do a nice job on books funnel the profit off to the big corporation, where the CEO gets overpaid for doing nothing but ruin the nation financially.
You'd do well to get the third edition, as it has well over double the information of the second edition.

I don't cast my own but bought the book anyway...great info. I bought it because I want to load cast bullets in .44 mag for deer hunting. It has, and will, serve me well. Even if you don't cast your own, buy the book anyway...a lot of invaluable info for handloaders and/or hunters.

Veral, you've gotten some good advice here about another addition, so you probably don't need mine. But, you I'll give it anyway...ha ha.

A monthly or bi-monthly newsletter, or magazine, where you write about 1, 2 or 3 topics. You accept advertising from companies which will help offset the cost of production and pay you for your time before the product is even mailed out. That way you can mail to your database at no cost to you, stay in touch with your customers and make a little money. I have owned a magazine in the past and a company that used newsletters successfully. I'ts a great tool to increase your business and do something that you enjoy but on a better timeline.

Anyway, you do a great job here and provide us all a great service (which many would pay for) and I thank you for that.

Best wishes to you.

Veral,

I got into casting about 6 months ago, and have since spend endless of hours reading about it on the internet. I first considered buying the Lyman casting manual 3rd edition, since many people recommend it. But after having read that your book skips the basics which I by now have (sort of) under control, and the guy I cast with has been doing it for 20+ years, I think your book would suit me more.

Do you ship to Denmark? If so what are the approx shipping costs?

Since this is a forum for every bodys information, quoting you a postage price here isn't appropriate, but  explaining that foriegn postage must be quoted according to the country is.  All foriegn purchasers must contact me at                 LBTisAccuracy@Imbris.net                 and I'll give an exact postage quote to suit your country.         Veral
