URGENT K98k question
« on: March 01, 2008, 01:42:33 PM »
Have a very urgent question…was at a gun shop upstate and came across a interesting RC K98k…it had a 1937 or 38 date in the receiver and the 3 letter code was in script as was the date…like a fool I didn’t write down the code…but what caught my eye was it had a pre Nazi acceptance stamp on the receiver…it was a eagle with down swept wings like I have seen on many P-08 of the pre Nazi era…at $260 should I make a trip up and grab it? It is in the usual RC condition…. Should I go and grab it tomorrow?

phil - I would at least go back and take a good hard look at it and see if it is really what you want.  Good Luck.  Mikey.

Its a pretty good deal if it has all or even most of the "WAFFENAMPTS" still on the metal.
A lot of the times the eagle will still be present but the swastika will be "pinged" off...
You can find K98's in that price ranfge in a lot of retail dealer stores for that price.

Ok...I got it...its NOT a BSW...its an S/147 date 1937....has 2 Weimar eagles on the reciever and the barrel...on the right side of the reciever it has 2 Weimar eagle stamps with 214 and one very clear nazi proof mark with 359 all in a row...it had a red epoxy lam stock which i figure is not correct for the year...bore is really nice...should clean up and make a nice addition to the collection...
