I've had two of them, the .308 and the .223. Both shot well IMO. Of course, I was restricted to 75 yds at the time. The .308 was shooting under an inch with every load I ran through it. The .223 was pickier, lighter bullets were much better than heavier ones. Of course, then I found something else I "just had to have" and sold them to buy it. I think that for the money, you can't really get a better rifle. They were a bit heavy, but were compact and balanced well for me. If you could shave them by about 1/2 a pound, they'd be nigh on to perfect. I liked the stock very much too. I like how a classic straight stock looks, but the comb on the Vanguard stock was great for me, as I have sloping shoulders and a longer neck. Classic stocks put the toe of the stock right on the tip of my shoulder when I get a good cheek weld, whereas the monte carlo rides lower and gives me a great cheek weld on the stock.
