My hide my front blind and how to.
« on: March 04, 2008, 10:15:30 AM »
I find myself in areas that I'm covered from 3 sides but my front is open a lot , I hunt from a folding chair because of medical reasons so I am exposed a lot more then someone who is able to tuck down into a brush pile. To fix this problem i use a small blind i made from PVC PIPES, it is a simple and cheap way to cover you. for mine the width is 38" and 42" high perfect for me to rest my gun on for a shot.,

HINT... I do not glue mine so if i am in a lower seat for any reason i simply pull of the top rail and drape the camo material down so i am 9" lower

HINT... when you paint be sure to get all around the joints or you will find a lip of whit that stands out horribly .. lol

hope this may give you an idea to cover you in spots you would be open.  the price of the whole blind is about $5 plus the material.

STEP 1 -------picture 1-------------
Items I use.
20 ft. of 3/4" PVC  pipe, 2 corner pieces , 8 tee pieces

STEP 2 -------picture 2-------------
use a hack saw and cut the PVC pipe into 4 X 36" pieces and 8 X 9" pieces ( WHEN CUTTING THE 8 SMALL PIECES BE SURE THEY ARE SAME LENGTH IF ONE IS SHORTER THEN THE OTHER SIDES IT WILL BE CROOKED AND NOT AS STRONG )

i used 2 x 3/4" x 10" PVC PIPES when cut into 36 inches you get 3 out of one leaving a foot and then 1 and the 8 - 9 inch pieces out of the second leaving about a foot.i cut the last foot long pieces in half and use them for the feet

next I insert 3 long pieces into tee pieces one on each end for a total of 6 tee pieces then insert the last long piece into 2 corner pieces  Then I put the feet into a tee pieces with the tee straight

STEP 3 -------picture 3-------------
with them all together now , I insert the long pieces with the short pieces for each of the tiers to the top corner pieces. after both sides are done i connect one side to the other...  making the basic outline ....

STEP 4 -------picture 4-------------
I finalize this with a good camo job of flat black and soft green, letting the over spray lay where it falls makes it a faded look.

STEP 5 -------picture 5-------------
the final and last step is i weave a camo patterned mesh or material threw the bars making it seem to have depth rather then a flat surface.

If only folks would actually take advantage of the free photo hosting service we offer that really does work to display photos here on the forums we'd be able to see their photos. Oh well all we can do is offer it we can't make the horse drink after we get him to the water.

I'm sure folks would like to see the pics if you'd put them on a server that is actually capable of delivering them in a timely manner. The thread will be around and get viewed at least from time time for many years. I've seen folks bring threads back to the top that haven't had a post in three or four years many times.
