Thanks. Making this a sticky due to the intrest in it.

Your welcome, they just added it to their web page. It is much easier to read if you bump it up to 75 or 100%.

It doesn't look like it will be compatible with the .25 ACP ignition sytem:

Use only standard 209 shotshell primers. We
recommend Winchester, CCI, Cheddite, Federal or
Remington STANDARD 209 shotshell primers.

DO NOT USE THESE PRIMERS:
• #11 Percussion Cap
• Musket Cap
Rifle or pistol primers
• Remington Kleenbore Muzzleloading Primers
• Winchester Triple Se7en Muzzleloading Primers
• CCI MZL Primers
• Federal Fusion 209 Muzzleloading Primers
H&R Ultra Slug Hunter (12 ga.)
NEF SS Sidekick Muzzleloader (50 cal.)
Remington 870 Express (12 ga.)
Stevens 311-H SxS (20 ga.)
CZ 452 American (22lr)

MI.sabot,

There is no doubt in my mind that a Large Rifle MAGNUM Primer such as the Ultimate uses would set it off. The question is, will a Small Rifle MAGNUM Primer in the .25 ACP system be enough? The Ultimate has a direct hot channel/flash hole from the primer to the powder, the .25 ACP has approximately a .260" x .610" chamber before the flash hole which allows the flame to cool off before going through the flash hole. I will be trying the SRMP in my .25 ACP plug when I get my hands on some BH 209.

Shot some Blackhorn 209 out of the Huntsman with the .25 ACP plug. It rained all day so I just shot out the garage 3 times. I used the standard CCI 400 Small Rifle Primers, as I have all my brass loaded with them. 3 crisp ignitions, and a big ole smile on my face. I will be getting some Small Rifle Magnum Primers in the future, just for added insurance.

Now before anyone gets too excited, the temperature was mild today, no telling if it will go bang at the temperatures (below freezing down to below zero) it will be during our muzzleloader season.

I also experimented with one of my #11 ignitions inline 12 ga, hang fire, no smile.

Thanks Busta. I am going to put some on order very soon to try in one of my Encore's that currently uses T7. Are you going to test the corrosion and the ease to clean?

Already have been testing it for 3 weeks. A bunch  of guys on another site chipped in and bought an inexpensive blued break open. It was shot on March 25 and left that way, nothing to note as of yet, so I think their claims of non-corrosive must be true.

Thanks. I hope to read the artical soon. At least you got a free ML out of the deal if the power is no good. :) :)

I'm sorry, I didn't mean I had been testing it, I meant everyone that chipped in was testing it as a whole. Were going to give the muzzleloader to a young hunter after the test, as long as there is no corrosion and is still safe to shoot.

Yup I figured that out. :D I am going to wait until some comes to the local stores or Bass pro, Gander or Sportsman Warehouse that are in the area so I don't have to pay all of the extra shipping fee's. If all works well with this I hope to start using it more. Does the package say anything about how long the shelf life is?

Read this. Says:

"Extended Shelf Life. In contrast to other muzzleloading propellants, Blackhorn 209  will remain consistent and reliable if for and extended period of time if stored properly."

Well I have called every place I can think of around Dallas, Tx and No one here plans to carry it unless more demand is generated. Cabeleas and Bass pro never heard of it and said since Tx didnt have a soild ML season they didnt know if they would ever get it. At the price it is already I'm just not going to pay for the haz shipping and all too.  Maybe I'll be able to fiind some in LA.  Sure hope they can strike a deal with wal-mart or some mass supplier.

coop,

That's why I ordered a case, the big and little sporting goods retailers were clueless. Maybe by the time I shoot up this case, they will have at least heard of it.

Right now, the only places I know that are selling it is MidSouth, MidwayUSA, and Graff and Son's.

I guess I'm a little behind. I'm still shooting some pyrodex & last fall I bought some 777 to use next. This Buckhorn 209 sounds very interesting. I plan to step up the use of my Knight next fall with an IL deer hunt. I've gotten use to the cleaning ritual but it would be nice to get more shots & have a longer margin for a total breakdown cleaning.

I should be getting some soon. (this week maybe) I am waiting on the big brown truck to bring it to the local dealer so I can buy it cheaper.
