4" groups offhand at 15 yards.  Good enough to do what a 2" snub was meant to do.  No need to do any bore slugging.  If your throats are that much smaller than the bore have them reamed its a relatively inexpensive process.

I need to move in a little bit.  I can't imagine shooting at 25 yards in actual use...    Maybe 7 yards like we used to shoot in the old PPC.

i  thought  about  getting  a  4 inch 44mag  tracker  and  cutting   those  @##$^&&%$  ports  off  and  move  sight  back....i  hate  ports    any  opinion  on  that?      also  here  in  Florida  if  you  see  a  man  with a  black  fanny pack  you   assume  he  is  either gay  or  has a gun  i  sometimes  carry   in  a  fanny  pack  when  i  want a  bigger  gun with  me    [5  inch 629 smith]  its  got  a  water  bottle  and  looks  like  something  a  granola  eater  would  wear                  at law  did  you  check  for  barrel  constriction  where  it   is   screwed  into the frame  i  fire lapped  my  5 in  smith  and 3 inch   get  6  inch  groups   with  5  at  50  yards  and almost  that  good  with  the  3  inch

This is the first ported weapon of any type I've ever owned.  Can't say as I mind them at all.  I can't tell the difference in recoil/loudness/muzzle jump unless I could compare a ported/non-ported revelver in the same shooting session!

No I didn't.  I haven't noticed anything while cleaning or slugging the barrel that would make me think it's pinched.  Looks pretty good to me!

Atlaw, I've been reading this thread and although I'm a bit slow, I might be able to give you a couple of ideas concerning concealed carry.  You are right about needing an IWB holster, especially for a larger gun.  The trick there is to buy your pants one size larger than you do now, to give the gun room in there.  Also try wearing it either ahead or behind your hip bone.  At 2:00 o'clock or I carry mine just a little farther back than 5:00 o'clock.  Hope this helps you enjoy that gun more. 
I have three Taurus (all .45 colt) and two have been great.  The third one was finen but had a bad trigger pull and did not quite line up the cylinder with the loading gate on half cock, but that's an easy fix and I have had many of those same issues with other brands.  Anyway I called Taurus and told them my objections and they said to send them the gun.  I got it back in about 3 1/2 weeks all fixed up!  I'm a happy customer and I'd like one more Gaucho, a .357 this time and I would quickly comvert it to a 44 special!  44 Man.

I try to buy my pants a little big but they keep shrinking on me!     Unfortunately that's not as much of a joke as I meant it to be!       For many years I've found the carry that works the best for me is as you suggested.  sort of a cross draw from the 10 o'clock.  Either that or the small of my back.  I guess I'll look for a swade IWB holster and stop worrying!   

I was looking at a couple of Ruger 357's (Blackhawks?) at a gun show and I got to thinking I'd seen some discussion on converting them to 5 shot 44 Spl's.  Is something similar to that what you were talking about doing with the Gaucho?

One of the members here sent me the reamer he bought so I can open the .428 throats up to .431 (the barrel slugs .430).  I'm hoping I can get my 1 - 1.5 foot, 25 yard groups down to a respectable? 6 inches or so...

No Atlaw, I wouldn't go 5 shot with a new cylinder.  I'd like to find a 357 mag and ream the 6 shot cylinder to .44 spl and screw on a 44 barrel, kind of like I did with an old Uberti that I found a while back.  But that one has the heavier frame (the Uberti) and the finished product is almost a large and heavy as a short .44 Mag Ruger, so I'll have to try again.  I want smaller and lighter like the Gaucho and work from that.  44 Man.
