Statesboro Area
« on: March 07, 2008, 07:40:08 AM »
There's a 90% chance I'll be moving to the Statesboro area this summer.  I know nothing of the area and hunting opportunities.  Is public land nearby; or better, does anyone know of any possible leases in the area?

Good luck finding a place to hunt anywhere in Jawja!  I hope you meet someone that has access to land and likes you!  :'(

Your best bet if you don't know someone with private land or joining one of the high dollar hunting clubs is the Tuckahoo WMA in screven co. or the Fort Stewart hunting membership for about $80 a year. They are both about a 45-55 minute drive from Statesboro.

I'll be teaching ROTC.  Just found out that instead of Georgia Southern, I'll be in Savannah instead, but my boss is in Statesboro and I'll end up spending a lot of time there.

If you duck hunt, Rhetts Island on the Altamaha Waterfowl NWR can be great, although you'll be hunting with a lot of other people.  But we almost always limit out, almost all migratory birds. This is at Darien, just south of Savannah on I-95.  Will need a jon boat to get across the dike.

shoot what part of Georgia you talkin' about..................................go to Woody's or any other outdoor forum in Georgia and see all the hunt clubs still looking for members........prices for leases, gas prices, and other expenses are finally starting to catch up to the hunting in georgia...
