Encore pistol questions

I have a 12in 44 mag Encore that I really enjoy shooting. I am new to Encores, looking for some experienced advice. I want to keep iron sights, but the factory sights don't really suit me. Does anyone know of a front sight base with 3/8 dovetail slot that uses the existing holes in the Encore barrel ?      Also, is there a better setup than those tiny 8-40 screws on the forend ? I can find a hanger bar that fits my barrel contour, but cant find a short forend that will work with the hanger bar.    Any advice would be appreciated.   Thanks

For custom wood that will fit the hanger bar, I've been using Georgia Jims for a number of years now.  Just tell him what you want, and how long you want it.

Here's a couple of pictures of the wood I use.  Most of it is unfinished at this time as I prefer to do the final fitting and finishing myself.
