scout4 I have 3 of the daisy880 rifles and each has worked very well for me. The older 880 is a metal receiver and I think it shoots better than the newer 880 it seems to shoot rws superpoint pellets the best. have a newer all black 880 with a 4 power scope this one shot daisy wadcutters with some good accuracy. The newest 880 is the best looking one. I'm shooting it with the open fiberoptic sights for now but plan on mounting a 4x32 scope. 10 is the most amount of pumps on any of these 880's more than that can mess things up inside the gun. If you are looking at an old 880 it would be a good idea to check it over real well. Sometimes if an older pump up airgun shoots weak maybe all thats needed is to oil it, but seems most times the airvalve is messed up because of being over pumped. If you just want something to shoot then save yourself some trouble and buy a new one. hope this helps. tucker

Thank you very much Tucker for the info. I'm just lookin to have somethin thats easy to shoot out in the backyard along with my daughter and her little redrider bbgun. Seems you have some good experience with this gun. Have you used any of your 880's to hunt? And what kind of accuracy can be expected at reasonable ranges? Thanks again for the information. scout4<><

scout4 I have never used my 880's to hunt just to target shoot and shoot at tin cans and such. Although I think it would be very possible to hunt pest, and maybe rabbits with this gun if you could get close and made head shots. The 880's I have are accurate enough. Other than a single pump pneumatic airgun you probably will not find a pump gun that is much easier than this one. You will want to try several different pellets to find the one that will shoot best, and it is worth the effort and the extra expense. With what you are wanting to do, I think you will be happy with one of these daisy 880's. Good luck scout4,...tucker
