I can't help with any info on a bantam.  I have a couple standard ATR's in .308 and .30-06. A buddy has one in .243.  Each is a tack driver.  The actions are smooth, triggers are not bad.  Neither of us have had any problems with them.  My buddy says his trigger seems to have become a bit lighter after a couple hundred rounds.

Last week, the prices on standard ATR's were still at $249 at Wal Mart.  Around the $300 mark at local shops.

 :)

Mine is the standard in .270 Win. No problems other than breaking the swivel attachments.

I recently bought the bantam .(I'm tall but have shorter arms )  Works get love the size for shooting houses and tree stands  .Have not had any problems with it and as said before it is a tack driver .Would recommend it to any young shooter or someone wanting to teach a young shooter.

I bought one paid $330 for it,everythings overpriced here. Finally shot it yesterday, put five in an honest inch@100yds.
happy with it for what it is. The trigger has a bunch of creep but its not real heavy. Fit and finish was good for a $300gun.
As far as the site that claims they blow up in your face??? Savage has built a bunch(all) of them that way for a longgg time.
