Marlin X-L
« on: March 08, 2008, 05:04:08 PM »
I just heard about the XL bolt action rifle  .I have no clue if it just came out or not. It seems to me that since it looks to be a savage clone maybe Remington (since they bought Marlin) is trying to take savage out of the game . Has anybody seen or shot this rifle. I own  several savages 1 of them is  a really  good shooter the other is to say the least mediocre. At any rate I find the design very close to the savage ,I'm inclined to believe Remington/Marlin  is taking a run at savage arms. What are your views??

While you may find someone here with knowledge of this rifle, this forum is intended for Marlin lever action center fire rifles.  You might get a quicker response from one of the rifle forums down the index page a little bit.

Thats OK.  Keep checking.  WE are Marlin folk here, and some even have bolt guns.  You may get an answer.

"I'm inclined to believe Remington/Marlin  is taking a run at savage arms."

I hope so, but the new Marlin bolt gun was out before the merger.  I see no reason to buy any bolt gun other than a Remington 700 myself.  I'm working on eliminating bolt guns from my collection.  I have one .22 Glenfield left.

I also have a Remington 514 that my father gave me.  I'll never sell it.

Bolt guns are boring.

I never met a gun I did not like...  Just like some better than others... Seen some of them on MO Board...
