I have several of the older Tasco World Class scopes on some of mine.  These scopes were available in 4 or 6 power with duplex reticle, target knobs, and adjustable objective.  You can find them at some of the on-line auctions for about $100.  There are also some nice Burris scopes out there.  I just sold a fixed 10x that I tried.  It did not have the eye relief I needed and I was uncomfortable shooting my XP in creedmore position.  There is a Burris 3x12 with the target knobs and adjustable objective.  They are really nice and run you about $300.00.  If you have the money, the best buy is the Leupold 2.5x8 scope with adjustable objectives and target knobs.  These are super clear and are a very very fine scope.  The Leupold fixed 2x and fixed 4x LER scopes work good too, but they don't have real crisp scope adjustment.  I put a Stoney Point Target knob on the elevation of one of mine and that works good.

Lots of options out there.  Good luck on your choice.

For shooting from the creedmoor position, you'll of course want a long eye relief scope. As the poster above said, the Leupold with target turrets is probably the best way to go. For second I'd say the Bausch & Lomb 3200 variable. It doesn't give up much tot he Leupold and is quite a bit less expensive.

If you're shooting offhand witha taco hold you'll want a rifle scope. Your choices there are way wider, if that's what you're doing then just ask and we can all get on our soapbox and tell you about our favorite rifle scopes.

Steve those scopes are not the World class, they are the Pro-Class line.  I agree with all your other statements above and will add the bushnell elite 2-6x as it also has excellent eye relief.

Just to throw in my two cents worth, I use Leupold rifle scopes (atop TC Contender) for the eye relief.  Have a Burrise 3-12x32 that's phenomenal, will focus all the way to 500 yards, but it's hard to hold that small a pistol scope steady. Really great glass and quality.  I have a few Leupold Vari-X II scopes also, love them. They're 4-12x 40s.

Scope thought: The higher the magnification you use on an adjustable scope, the closer you'll have to hold it to your face.
For most applications, a 10 power scope works, a 12 power good quality will easily take on 300 to 500 meters, and everything else is comfort.   :)
