Locating an Ithaca shotgun expert
« on: July 10, 2003, 11:14:26 AM »
Does anyone know of an expert/collector on Ithaca/SKB double shotguns. I have one I believe may be unique. It is a 200E, which I bought new in 1973. Due to the "E" designation, which reportedly stands for (English version) it is suppose to have a straight hand stock, not the pistol grip stock on mine. I have been unable to find a source of good info on these rifles or a factory contact that may have access to old shipping records, etc. I would sure appreciate some leads if you guys know of any. Thanks.

Ithaca Gun Historian:
Walter Snyder's latest book, "The Ithaca Repeater ... the Best Gun Going", is available directly from him by sending $89.95 plus $6 S/H to Walter C. Snyder, 225 South Valley Road, Southern Pines, NC 28387.

Savage T.   I may be wrong but I don't believe his book covers double-barrel (side-by-side) shotguns.  But he may be a great contact to start with.  Did you happen to run across an email address for Mr. Snyder.  Thanks.

Texas Mac,
Mr. Snyder's book definately covers double guns according to this web site.  Sorry, I don't come up with an e-mail for him.

Savage, it turns out the "E" stands for ejector. I posted my question on The DoubleGun BBS talk forum and, among others, received a response from Walter Snyder.  Fjestad's Blue Book of Gun Value is obviously incorrect and may be where Chuck Hawks and others of the same opinion are getting their information. If you are interested you can view the many comments at the following link:

Thanks for your help.

Wayne,
Thanks for sharing your information with us.  Certainly was interesting that Walter Snyder decided to offer his definitive knowledge on the SKB's!
I will definately save that forum in my favorites :o  You have a wonderful double there.

Dang!   Brushhunter, I cleaned and spruced up especially for that photo, and the suave "come hither" look does attract a lot of women.  It must be the ponytails that disturbs you.
