I very good friend just got a rifle from an estate auction we have found that it is a 25 cal. We are thinking it is a 257 roberts he tried a 257 roberts plus p round in it. It acts like it is .001 to .002 to long. I know some was here has some knowledge of this round any help would be nice. Thanks

If it's not marked, best thing to do is a chamber cast, then you'll have a good idea what it is, see bore slugging and chamber casting in the FAQs.

Can you tell us any more about the rifle, any markings on it at all, even if they appear cryptic to you, please let us know what they are. A picture would be nice also if you could manage that....<><....
