Oh what a day...!!!
« on: July 10, 2003, 05:48:42 PM »
To start off I must let you know that I just love model 94 Win.'s.  I've been picking them up here and there now for some time now, mostly in 30-30, but have a standing order at my local armorer for any interesting 94's that come into his shop for a trade or sell.  Just last week I picked up a model 1873 (I know not a 94) but it was in great shape and after a few necessary repairs will make a great addition to my collection (don't squawk on me for the repairs...they are necessary).

Well today, he calls me with a "special" deal to be had.  Turns out some guy walked in with a 94 Limited Edition II Commemorative, with presentation box, unfired, all the paperwork and wants 700$ CDN for it (about 500$ US)!!!  I'm not much of a fan for commemoratives, but this thing was just too much of a deal to pass up!!  These are a 1 in 1500 item and are going for anywhere between 1200$ US and 1500$ US when you can find them....needless to say that I jumped on the occasion!!

Now I'm broke...with the 1873 last week and this LE II this week, which was completely unexpected....I'm broke....I guess I'll cut down on food for a couple weeks...maybe walk to work...and hey who needs electricity in the summertime right?

But tonight I go to bed happy....

I'm not telling my wife about this one though....we all have our secrets....right?

Sport:  don't let on to your wife that you went broke getting that commemorative.  Hide it somewhere for a couple of months and then bring it out like you have had it around forever.  A bunch of us from the Mil-surp forum have used that trick successfully for a couple of years and it works.  We may not spend as much for a mil-surp (anywhere from $39 for a Turkish Mauser to a couple of hundred for something else) but the trick works.  Afterall, from most women's perspectives, it's just another gun and they don't pay much attention to it unless we make it out to be a big deal.

Shhhh, mum's the word.  If things start getting too warm, just tell her you are holding on to it for me until I can get all the necessary cleaning stuff and ammo for it.  Then send it to me with all your ammo and I will hold on to it until she lets up.  This is just one more service I provide.  Mikey.
