Predator calls???

Has anyone ever used the cheaper electronic calls from Wally world or Dicks Sporting Goods with any success or are they just cheap electronic calls????? I think some are made by Cass Creek and then i have seen some by Hunter Specialty????  I know they are not the coop de graw (FoxPro) but are they worth it???? Thanks Stu

The sound is good enough but they are on the puny side as far as the volume goes.
The cure is a trip to Radio Shack and the purchase of the mini-amp. Wiring is done by using the 1/8" patch cords that run from the external or earphone jack on the player to the (In) jack on the amp.
A second cord goes from the (out) jack on the amp to an external speaker of your choice.

We have three prototypes and my son-in-law has commandeered all of them.
The first was the cheap Johnny Steward with the remote. (this unit has a jack for an external speaker)
The second was a voice recorder that will accept mp3 conversion.
And the third was an actual mp3 player (one of the small ones)

The mp3 was the most versatile for sure as there is a wide range of sounds that can usually be found & downloaded for free.
You could use about anything though such as the portable CD player and they will work well once that amp is wired in.

You should be able to find some good packaging ideas right here on this forum by running a search for homemade elect calls or such.

I use the Cass Creek units with the Cass Creek Speaker and wire to get the sound away from me.  The Fawn Bleats works real well on bears and wolves, in the spring.  Just be ready when the bear comes in, hence the reason to get the sound away from me.

Like Glancebam said, the volume is not much to brag on, but it's still loud enough for at least the majority of calling stands, especially at night time. I think people tend to call way too loud in most cases anyway. I rarely run my Fox-Pro at more than half volume. With most stands I run it about a third or less.

A friend of mine uses one. I've been out with him, and the sound "quality" is actually pretty daggone good to be priced as reasonably as they are. He's killed several coyotes, and foxes using his.

I`ve had a Fox Pro for several year. I bought it just before going to Idaho on a coyote hunt several years ago and it worked well for me in Idaho, but back here in Oh. I`ve only seen 1 coyote that we call in with it. Back East coyotes just seem alot harder to call, with any thing.
