30-06 Barrel project ideas

Hello all!
I've recently acquired a 30-06 ported barrel.  Honestly, not too interested in the 30 caliber arena so it may become a donor barrel for a project.  anybody have any interesting ideas???

A rebore to .375", lots of possibilities there, or .366" for a 9.3x something. The only encumbrance is the short 21½" barrel, if I was gonna spend money on a rebore, I think a 26" donor would be better to spend money on.  ;)

I agree with Tm if you're going to re-bore it how about a .375 or .416 - 06 AI ? If ya don't want to re-bore there are a lot of interesting 30's  ;D ;D ;D

If you are looking for something exotic  how about a 338/06.Lots of good bullets and brass in 30-06 is never a problem     Doug

Matt, is that ported 30-06 barrel from the factory? If so the muzzlebrake (ported section) should be able to be unscrewed....<><....:)

How about the new Lapua 370 magnum.  I think that's what its called.  It simple a necked up 30-06 to use .366  (9.3mm) dia bullets.  Pretty interesting ballistics, eith that or a 35 Whelen.  If the whelen get a 1-14 twist to handle any of the bullets out the for it.
