My VTR gets a new skin (pics)

Thought I would try my hand at painting a stock.  I went with Duracoat.

Looks great!!!!! ;D I have painted a few stocks myself. Like the one pictured below. I have always used Krylon Fusion paint on my stocks. I did consider the Duracoat also but decided to with the Krylon because I read some bad reviews using there system without an air brush. How did you apply yours? Did you have any problems with it cloging the tip up? Dale

Thanks guys.
I did use a air brush.  It was a cheap one I bought with the Duracoat kit.  It had a can of air I found useless because it would not give enough pressure.  I found also you need to get the Duracoat Reducer to thin it a bit.  Also, I used a compressor with the air brush and everything works great.

I am really thinking about painting the whole thing with the same pattern (scope too).

I did that once. I painted the whole rifle and regretted terribly. I will never paint anything but the stock ever again. Dale

Looks good. I use Duracoat on all my stocks and have never had a problem with it. I do not use their airbrush, I have a HVLP that works great. If you are going to paint the action make sure you clean the metal real well with a good cleaning agent to get all the oils and grease out of it. If you dont, it will leak through and bubble up the Duracoat later on down the road.
