Ok I just finished these two now have six more to go by October then will have ten done for all my nephews. been a big job doing these so far hope to get them done.

Hey Bowhunter, you could adopt me if you want, I could always used a nice bow like the ones in the picture. Heck, I would even help you drag dead critters from the woods for one of those nice looking bows. I hope those nephews know what you have done for them, they are very lucky to have an Uncle like you. by the way wormbobskey how did your bowyer adventure go? last time we talked about it you was going to cut some wood, did get one tillered yet?

Bowhunter, about all I have been doing is getting ready for trapping season. I'm going to be long-lining it this year for a little over a month this year and it takes a lot of work trying to get things set up. I still shoot just about every day and have got some nice hardwood arrows made up, but haven't completed the long bow I started. I got the bowyers bench built and started working on a set of hickory billets. I got them close to the final shape that I want before I will sleeve them to start the tillering process. I haven't been up to my brothers in 3 or 4 months so I haven't been able to get to that osage log he has up there. I hope he didn't use it in a bonfire or something like that. We have totally different schedules so its hard to get to talk to him to find what's going on. I have seen on ebay where a guy has some 3 or 4 year dried yew for 50.00 starting bid. Thats definitely better than 150.00 that I have seen them at, but like I said, I have been getting everything set up for the up coming trapping season and most of my spare cash (if there is such a thing) has been going toward the extra gear I need. I think I will be using my 50lb. recurve with the heavy maple arrows that I just completed. I will also be using my snake skin back self bow that I made a few years ago. It pulls a tad under 50 lbs. at my 28" draw and is short enough to use as a brush bow. Its made out of some very dark osage and is made from billets that I sleeved, but it isn't a take down. I would like to think I will be very busy this winter skinning and fleshing pelts, but I'm sure there will be times when I will be able to work on some bows this winter. ok good luck on the line what are work on getting more muskrat, fox's, or what either way good luck I hope the pelt prices are up and the winter set in so the pelt prime up for you.

well I hope we chill enough to get them critters to put their guard hairs into high gear and prime up extra nice for you. I also hope the price are better than they where five years ago.

Bowhunter, every year about this time they (writers in the trapping mags) tell us that the outlook is good and that prices MAY go up, but its usually not the case. I have never trapped for the money, although a good fur check keeps the wife happy for a while and helps out with the Christmas shopping. I just like to be able to get out of the house whenever possible and the wife won't follow me into the woods (my sancutary), unless theres a shopping mall close by. I hope the fur primes up well this year also, if not I just wait until it does. I target everything that is legal to trap here in Ohio and even go after skunks for the skunk essence. I always carry my bow with me just in case, espeacially in the first part of the season during the rut. I have seen bucks do some crazy stuff. I had 2 bucks run up on me while I was driving in a trap stake. Unfortunitly (spelling?) my bow was about ten feet behind me. They must have thought I was two bucks spareing.
