well well well , ok maybe I could do it , but it wouldnt be that beautiful and sure take at least a year to do it . I dont have the skills to do an perfect job .

its much easier when I dont need to do an exact duplicate , as for this dolphin I only needed to come close to that style .

but ok it would be very interesting to make an gun in the same style and function , but not now for a few years . I got all to much to do already

as an diabetic I got problems with my eyes , and the worst now when I did this dolphin was that I got so tired in the eyes .

     Dan, we offered up this challenge to you or anyone who wanted a truly unique, long-term, project to accomplish FOR THEMSELVES.  It would be like one of those "Build Your Own Airplane From Parts You Make", projects.  It would take forever, but when it's done, you have lots of bragging rights!  You did a remarkable job on the Dolphins and the reason you are making these cannon is outstanding.  Your son and his brothers-in-arms will appreciate your efforts more than you possibly can realize at this time.  Bravo!!

the idea to make an similar gun is very interesting , but I got so much to do .
Ive just started an big rebuilding on my house , but as I said "in a few years time" .
could you please scan the book page and email it to me .
or do you know where I can find that book ??

A little history on the 7-bore gun.  It was owned by Frank Bivins of Santa Monica CA when I visited him ca. 1983 to buy some cannons.  He wanted a lot of money for that one and Henk Visser eventually got it.  i did buy a beautiful framed color photo of it at the time I visited, and I still have it, but I didn't get the weapon.  The nice framed photo is easier to store anyway!

There were some other fantastic cannons he had that were almost within reach, and that I've kicked myself many times for not buying.  But I did get away from there with many great pieces. 

Frank published a catalog of his collection that itself is scarce and collectible today, called "Vari-Type Firearms."

if you ever hear of one of those books for sale , if its an reasonable price let me know .

I suppose its difficult to find an copy of it in sweden .
