Primer question
« on: March 15, 2008, 06:15:51 AM »
Does anyone know of a chart or published data that compares how hot different primers are?  I remember reading a post a while back that referenced some sort of chart comparing primers of various manufacturer's.  I can't seem to find anything like that.

Here's one I dug out of the archives.
It doesn't appear to be a "scientific" approach to testing but does show comparable results.

I seem to recall a primer test NRA did some time ago but haven't located it yet...

Thanks for the links guys.  I read through those sites and several others looking for some info.  Just about every test I read had another one to completely contradict it.  About the only conclusion I could come to is that priming compounds vary quite a bit from lot to lot so there is not any specific primer that is always hotter than another for a given size.  The only thing that was consistent was cup thickness and the ability for a thicker cup to hold more pressure.
