Question About Selling Powder and Primers
« on: March 16, 2008, 02:21:55 AM »
I will soon be moving from a huge home to a condo about the size of one of my bedrooms.
I have some excess powder and primers I need to get rid of. All new and sealed in their original containers.
Is it legal for me to sell these face to face in my home state?
I have googled this and can't find any answers.

Thanks

alan

Probably. I know of no federal laws that would prevent it but can't speak to TN state or local laws but would think it highly unlikely either would prevent you either. The outrageous HAZMAT fees are really the primarily stumbling block to selling them that I'm aware of on a one time basis like this but I'd sure not want to suggest trying to do it other than locally.

I go along with what Greybeard said. In Missouri we don't have to sign our life away to buy those items so i guess one could sell it without any problems.

The rules on those sort of things have to do with explosive devices.  So you can sell all the gun powder you want, but if you drop a wick in the top of the can, you are breaking the law.

A buddy of mine almost got in trouble because of something of the sort.  He reloads shotshells, and had a glass tube with powder, wad, and shot to show the setup.  The police came to his house because of some dispute, and they tried to make some trouble over the tube, because it could appear to be a home made explosives device.

I don't want to be selling on a non- selling board.
I will pop a list under classifieds as soon as i get a little time off work, hopefully tomorrow.
