Light hammer strike

   I have an original contender, that I've owned and shot for many years. A month ago at the local range it misfired. 35 years handloading and I have never had a misfire before. Out of the next 10 rounds, only 3 fired. This is with the 30-30 barrel, so switched to the 22 rimfire with about the same results. I started following this forum looking for help. There is a lot of information here, and I hope this wasn't just covered recently. I feel the first thing I should try is the hammer spring. Called TC and they sent me one, I've been studying it for awhile and am looking for help. Anybody that could offer instructions would be greatly appreciated. It looks like it takes three hands.

This has been covered recently, do a search for my user name and you'll see the posts. Basically, its not hard but a real PITA if you don't use guide pins when replacing the hammer spring. You'll also need a padded vise to hold the receiver while doing this. You don't need to take the trigger group or anything else apart to do this.

When I bought a new G2 Contender, it misfired right out of the box. There was no way to get it to fire, so had to send it back to the factory. There, they replaced the hammer and mainspring. When it was returned, it never failed to fire.

It may be a good idea to send it to the factory and have them fix it.
