Ready to Ride...

Got my Honda Rincon 650 out over the weekend and stripped it apart in my garage.  Changed the oil, filter, main and sub air filters, spark plug, charged the battery, etc.  Then, I washed, waxed, and amor-all'ed it.  She's looking good and ready for riding.  I haven't gotten it out yet this year but the weather is warming up and I'm getting the itch.

It is getting to be that time of year. Trouble around here is the every other day high winds from the fronts blowing thru. The only places to ride are off the caprock in the sand hills that are BLM land. Trust me, you don't want to try ride in the sandhills when the wind is blowing. It is only a few weeks to better weather though.

You talk about this Rincon as though it was a boat you put away in the fall and get back out in the spring.  Plowed snow with mine a week or so ago.  Being a KY resident you should have gone to Harlan county this weekend.  My son went with his buggy but I couldn't join them.  Maybe in a week or two we'll take the quads only.  Quit cleanin and use that thing!

haha...I know.  Truthfully, I haven't ridden it all winter though.  I don't have any attachments to be able to use it for snow like that...I'd love to though.  I'm going to try and get an attachment this year where I can use it for food plots.  Right now, it's just to ride to have fun and I use it to pull a yard trailer.  That's about it.  Hopefully, I can start putting it to work.

Amor-all?  Dude it's an ATV.  I usually just knock the bigger chunks of mud off mine and keep going.  LOL   Just kidding, but seriously..

Gotta keep it looking good man...

Trust me, I ride it hard...but then I clean it hard.    Plus, the wax and ArmorAll protect the finish more when covering it in mud.  I'm kind of a neat freak...I admit it.

Armor All is one of the best things to happen to ATVs.  I coat the Whole thing with the stuff.  When it's time to clean up, just hit it with the pressure washer and all the crud comes off much easier.  Serves as sort of a release agent.  Comes in real handy at maintainence time or when other work needs to be done.  Back in the day we used WD-40.  MAN what a sticky mess that was, but it was still better than digging through the crud.

around here we can tell how good a quad runs but how dirty it is , we figure them clean ones are either broke , or never leave the yard

5 years old with over 16,000 miles.  Guess I'm just a wus.     Shoot!  I don't drive my pickup over 8,000 a year.

It's probably that armor all you spray all over the quad <snicker snicker> , makes you slice threw the air a little better
I like it around here in the winter when we get enough to shut the roads down , usually those nights I am at work it seems like , but cruising the town on the roads on a winters night is great fun

Around here it's legal to ride all the county roads anytime as long as you are registered and insured.  No state highways or interstates but everything is fair game.  There's no place I can't get to legally.  Summer time out here in the country there are times we may see as many ATVs on the roads as cars.  It's just another form of transportation for some of us.

Actually the Armor All just helps to cut through the BS better.   Sometimes a snorkel is in order also and not just for the mud.

Quite different than here in Bama. You cannot register them and insurance companies won't insure them. They are not legal on any public road anywhere not even up in the National Forest. You can use them on private land with owner permission and there are a couple of ORV trails you're allowed to ride on but that's it.

GB your situation puts you in the majority.  Where I live is mostly farm country, or at least used to be, so the farmers were responsible for making this happen so they could use quads for farm use without having to haul them from plot to plot.  Not every place in the state has such regs as they are governed on a county wide basis.  Regulators have seen that it is not a bad thing as it does no harm and actually helps a lot of us out.  Such regulations and the fairly lenient state gun laws here are 2 of the main reasons I'm still here.  The rest leaves a lot to be desired.

Our farmers need them orange triangle on the back of their quads , tractors , etc
Few years ago atv clubs asked the govt to regulate the atv with registration insurance, and well you can guess how thats worked out for some , but when they close the roads no one gives a 2nd thought to the quads or snowmobiles on the roadways , its kind of funny seeing 3 or 4 snowmobiles sitting there waiting for the stop light to change

It's a magical substance , comes for free to , and when you have enough of it , it will normally keep idiots off the roads and indoors where they can't bother anyone , prior to its arrival it will often make a walmart very crowded and hard to move around in and toilet paper vanishes from the shelves , all in all tho its worth it
