:D Hi everyone. I am new to this board and I was hoping that I could get some input on the following.  I am thinking about buying a howa 1500 in either 7mm wsm or 300 wsm with boyds laminated ross thumbhole stock and stainless barrel.  Does anyone have any info on on this rifle or Howa as a company (reputation, accuracy,duriblity and performance.  Any help would be apprciated.

Howa is a Japanese company and the first I saw of them were Weatherby's made by them.  The Vanguard rifles were the same basic design as the later Howa's and in the interim they produced rifles for several other companies, including S&W's M1500.  In any case I've a fair amount of experience with the older Vanguard rifles and S&W 1500's and 1 of the earlier Howas..  The Weatherby version was well made and functioned just fine the S&W and a broken part which I replaced but cannot recall for the life of me..  All in all they were servicable weapons and a fair value..  I have never fired one for accuracy, so cannot help in that arena..

I own two Howa 1500's, one in 308 and the other in 270.  I love both of them.  They give me 1 5/8th inch groups at 200 yards.  I did put Boyds stocks on both of them and had them bedded.  They are great rifles at a great price.  One mine is ss and the other is blue.  You won't be sorry if you get one.

I have a Howa .308 Tactical that is a tack-driver. It functions and shoots every bit as well as my M700 Police. :shock:  If I had to choose one, it would be tough. The M700 is glass/kevlar stocked, and the Howa is oiled wook and parkerised. 42.5 4064 and Sierra 168 HPBTM is booorrrrring!  :eek: Sub-MOA all day long in either rifle. I did have to glass bed the Howa. :eek:   Both actions are slicker'n goat snot on a glass door knob--that is slick! :-D  You won't be sorry with a Howa 1500. :D Enjoy, Topgun!

I have a Howa 1500 223 cal, Really an outstanding rifle for the price. I had trigger creep problems which was resolved in this forum by some welcomed replies saving a trip to a gunsmith and my $$$$.
I feel you can not go wrong purchasing a Howa..

:D I have a howa that was made for Mossberg. This has been an excellent rifle. I've used it about 15 years. Never a problem. It is a 30.06 and will shoot 1" groups.I've shot elk, mule deer, whitetails, antelope,and coyotes with it. :agree:
