I had to buy a new mower this year.:(
My old Lawnboy needed to many parts.

Sounds like some beefy mowers you've got there.

Watch those $19 160amp batteries they are only good for a year.
Most 300 amp and up will give a few years if they don't freeze.
I worked on Deere mowers for a couple of years.

What model do you have?

That is really scary Tim, specially if you just have a push mower like I do!

When I bought this place 24yrs ago, I started mowing with a regular mower, but quickly decided I needed something bigger, so bought a used 32" tractor mower, wore that about 15yrs ago and bought a 42" Yardman, but it still takes an hour to mow even with it! ::)

My lawn is still under a foot of snow/ice.  Snow won't be gone till may.

Wife is chomping at the bit to get her sports car out of the garage.  Not till the ice is gone.  We've still got four to five inches of ice on the roads yet.

I'm looking at one of those DR towable mowers, to tow behind the 4-wheeler.  My Sears Craftsman Lawn Tractor (made by Husquavarna) caught fire and burned, not going to get another one of those.

Wish I could do my mowing in an hour. Heck I wish I could do it in three hours even. It usually takes me a couple days working afternoons at a minimum and that's not even counting the couple days trimming that still are needed. Matt is supposed to be coming over to do it but he's not real good at making it more than a couple times a summer and then he'll normally take out a couple hundred dollars worth of trees and shrubs at least each trip. I think he does that to discourage me from mentioning to him that I'm under doctor's orders not to cut grass.

Using the 6' mower deck on my John Deere helps reduce the time greatly but the only thing we can get with it really is the orchard and the field. The rest needs the riding mower, push mower and DR Trimmer to finish up. The yard really is a nightmare to cut with all the flower gardens, trees, bushes and shrubs we have. I keep trying to help out tho I've put in another 12-15 more trees since last summer.  ;D

Fired up my compact diesel tractor this morning, but it wasn't with the brush hog on the back. Still have the snow blade on it, and had about an hour or so of pushing snow this morning. Had several drifts over 2' high. We had 6''-8'' plus the wind was coming off the lake, so it had a run from Canada to get a good head start. This has been a long winter around here, really looking forward to warm weather and mowing the grass. -gypsyman

Living in Fla, mowing is a way of life. Need to be done by 8:30 am (for me anyway)  or you`ll get water logged from sweat.
As my lawn tractor does all the work, you can bet I take good care of that puppy.

You fellas had better check with Algore about mowing your lawns with powered mowers.  I suspect your "carbon footprint" is already bigger than your allotment.  Time to consider a good push mower, or a goat.

Takes me about 3+ hours with the 48" Husquavarna lawn tractor.   When/if it ever quits I want to get one of those riding arm chairs.  Then again Magooch might be on the right track with the goats.  Mowing and fertilizing is done simultaneously and no carbon base fuels are consumed.

Sourdough,  the Husquavarnas are very popular around here and I have never heard of one setting its self on fire.  Sure you didn't set it on fire yourself to get out of having to mow the lawn?

I just gave up and upgraded to a Kubota tractor with a shredder on back. And Al Gore can get a running start and jump up and kiss my happy hindend. That riding mower was taking forever.

A good 5' or 6' zero turn mower is twice as quick as a tractor and mower.
Especially if you have trees and other obstacles to mow around.

Something to think about if you are spending more than a few hours each time.

THAT'S A FACT!  I use a 61" Great Dane ZTR to mow 5 acres in about an hour and 40 minutes.  Always had tractor styled mowers in the past and can't imagine going back.  Mowing time is 1/2  or less.

Please don't remind me its time to cut the grass. ;D My wife has already asked when I was gonna mow the yard. Guess I will have to get the mower out of the shed this weekend and fire it up. Good thing for me is I have a smaller yard and most time I can mow trim and pick limbs leaves and grass clipping in about an hour.

Yep, I would liked to have bought one five years ago when I got my lawn tractor but they cost about twicwe as much as my tractor at the time.

True, I never said they were the cheap way to mow just quick.

The Hustlers we sell at work are from $7k for gas 60" to $17.5k for 72" diesel.
Some of these things will mow 15mph and turn on a dime though.:)

Just sprayed my lawn with roundup.  Shouldn't have to mow until the warm season grasses (Bermuda and zoysia) are growing good... probably about 3 or 4 weeks.
