New Lock
« on: March 21, 2008, 09:12:58 PM »
I just picked up a Trapdoor Springfield lock that has me puzzled. In every way it seems like any other T.D lock. except that it has only two positions on the tumbler and the exterior has the usual eagle stamping but it is partially under the hammer. There is no U.S. Springfield stamping on the lock and the date stamping is 1884. The  lock is well made and fitted and still carries much of its bluing though it is fading to a plum tone. Has anyone run across a similar lock? Thanks. Dan
