i have read a lot about this round but don't recall ever seeing or shooting this round and was wondering if any one would have a picture of it with say a 3006 or similar rounds to compare it with and may be some ballistics for it . i am vary familiar with the 3006 and am wondering how they compare.

The 25-06 is just your standard  30-06 case necked down to .25 caliber. From a 24" barrel, it can drive an 85 grain bullet to around 3500 fps, a 100 grain bullet to 3300 fps and a 117-120  in the neighborhood of 3000 fps.

It really comes into its own with the heavier bullets, in my opinion. As a deer cartridge, with a 117-120 grain bullet, it's a fantastic performer out to ranges farther than most folks should be shooting.

thanks for the reply . is the 25-06 any better in distance and knock down then the 06, or 270

Actually not as good. Due the better expansion ratios the .270 Winchester can do with a 130 grain bullet as much or more than the .25-06 can do with a 115-120 grain and the .30-06 can do same with a 150.

It mostly comes into it's own in my opinion with the lighter weight bullets of 100 grains and under where it can gain enough velocity to significantly flatten trajectory on lighter animals. It makes a super long range heavy varmint/predator rifle and using 100s a nice antelope rifle. To me it offers up little when used with bullets heavier than 100 grains that the .270 doesn't do better.

thanks like i said i have little Experience of this round and was just curious i looked at my local gun shops today and found none of them had any rounds to look at so i take it around here any way i could find some thing better in a more easily assessable round for my needs or needs i may come up with when it is time for the next purchase
