Thumbhole stock?
« on: March 22, 2008, 05:17:51 AM »
I see that H&R has a laminated thumb hole stock model in 45/70 . Does anyone know if the stock alone is available to buy? I think i would like to try a thumb holestock on my 25/06 handi rifle.

Yup,has been for a long time, although they're frequently our of stock, it's also available in camo lam, made by Boyd's.

I didn't see any at the boyds sight , i'll go back and look again. I did find them at gun stocks inc for 107.50 along with the target/varmint style forend for 55.00  How are those prices . The stock and forends are semi finished.

Boyd's doesn't sell them or list them, makes them for H&R exclusively except for a Boyd's dealer on ebay that has sold some. The Boyd's stocks are ready to bolt on for $122 shipped, GSI stocks require fitting and finishing, but come in a variety of different types of wood, and they're a GBO sponsor.

Tim, I sold my last set (camo) but would like to get another set some day. I do like the looks of the cinnamon this time and the matching uncheckered forearm in your picture. When the time comes that is just what I will get....<><....:)

Tim,

I was wondering if you could tell what size of recoil pad the GSI thumbhole stocks take? I don't have my rifle here so I can't measure it and I want to order it before I head home next month.

I'm not sure, never had one of the stinger stocks, maybe someone else can answer that, or give Ed a call of email.  ;)

Thanks Tim! I wrote him an email and he said that he didn't know of any recoil pads that would fit directly and they use the shape to fit recoil pads. So I guess I will have some more work ahead of me. I won't have much else to do when I get home anyways.
