Yea, I have more uses coming too.
I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet, either before or after the cut/crown job so I can't do a comparison unfortunately. Like I said, I'm still on the fence finish wise. I may just do rub on oil finish too.
I have a Marlin stainless 45-70 that looks really nice with it, and it IS durable.
I have the Harbor freight 7X12 mini lathe and so far am really liking it. At $500+ they aren't cheap, especially with all the other stuff you need. I had to buy a 4 jaw chuck because the stock 3 jaw didn't have a larger enough opening to allow the barrel through from the back.
Not being a machinist, I think it will fill my needs for a long time. I'ts more a matter of ME learning how to use it.

My Marlin is black, and it makes it LOOK synthetic, but it sure doesn't feel like it. My was done with the Duraliner spray-on cans. Took about 5 coats.
