Old news there, when it wasn't online or in the 2008 catalog in Janurary, the cat was outa the bag. It's still available as an accessory barrel, so it's not completely gone like the Handi-mags, several Superlights and stainless barrels and the 22 Hornet, 22mag Ultra, 17M2. :'(

GOOD RIDDANCE!  I got one a couple of months ago and wish I had never spent the money on it.  It seems that other makers can produce 38-55's that shoot straight.  H & R 38-55's  don't unless you spend the money to rework it.  what other calibers has this company screwed up as bad?

I stop the range yesterday to throw the bull with a few fellow shooters and was given a few hundred rounds of cast 38-55 (900 rounds) from beartooth and laszer cast in .379 and .380 diameters.
The gentleman who gave me the lead stated his older H@R 38-55 slug at .3775 and shoots jacket ammo excellent
The gun will drive tacks at the 100yard target and he had no need for the cast bullets.
This guy must of got a excellent bore when they made his 38-55
