Desert Eagle reloads ??
« on: March 26, 2008, 09:12:29 AM »
I just bought a Desert Eagle XIX .44 magnum with .357 magnum barrel/bolt. I took it to the range and it fired Remingtin, Winchester and Buffalo Bore ammunition very accurately.

Has anyone ever put together any reloads that work reliably in the DE, in either .357 magnum, or .44 magnum ? The powders I have Unique, 2400 W296.

I had a 44 Mag. barrel for a Desert Eagle for awhile.  Number one, don't expect it to cycle with light loads and/or light bullets.  It also won't cycle if you limp wrist it even with full house loads.  I used H110/Win. 296 with good success with 240 grain jacketed bullets.  Some light loads I made up with 180 grain bullets wouldn't cycle the action and the recoil was something like a 22 LR.

Same here, used H110 and 296 loaded in the 44 mag with 200, 240 and 300 xtp's. I didn't have any problems as long as you went with the upper end of the load data.

Don't load lead bullets since the DE is gas operated.
