Classic High Comb Stock
« on: March 26, 2008, 11:16:03 AM »
Hello Guys

Now that I've made a fore-end for my Handi I'm thinkin about doing a butt-stock.  I want a comb line that matches the one on the monte-carlo butt stock.  I've made a profile pattern and it looks OK, but before I go cutting wood I'd like to see if anyone else has made, seen or has thoughts on such a butt-stock.

(are any of the plastic stocks high comb??)

Cheers - Foster

Handi syn stocks are made in low comb for iron sights, and monte carlo for scopes.

As far as I'm concerned there's enough wood in the Handi butt stock to make a stock and a half. You can do alot by just re-shaping the origonal. Here's an excellent example in the "lets see some Handi's" thread.

When I made the stock for my Ultra last year, I raised the comb line 3/8" to match the scope rings.  In this photo, you can see the difference in how high above the butt the comb line is. Basically, when I added the cheekpiece ( or , rather left enough wood ) I left it 3/8"high
