I recently installed a Pachmayr on my Encore 280 AI 15" bbl.

I really like the grip in terms of how it helps with perceived recoil.  It certainly helps dissipate the recoil in my opinion.  It also reduces the reach to the trigger vs. the factory rubber grip which is a big plus for me.

If you get the fore arm as well, it will add some weight to the front end of the gun, further reducing felt recoil.

The Only Negative for me regarding the Pachmayr grip for the Encore is the Fit.  It lacks a little bit.

Other wise, the grip is pretty good.

I have the Pachmayrs as well. Fit on mine is only slightly better than what you see above. It is a good recoil absorbing grip, but a good piece of wood like Georgia Jim's thumbrest style might be better.

Hi Hotrod ,  Hope things are going well with the 460.....the grips on my Encore are the T/C rubber grips that come with the stainless Encore hunting package.   I at first didn;t like the looks of them , so for CHRISTmas  , my son bought me Walnut grip and forearm ...really looked sharp....after bruising and tearing skin off my hand I put the rubber ones back on....thats my story !  But no matter what grips you have on that monster....it bites....OMO    ;D

My Encore came with the T/C factory rubber grip as well.  As mentioned in my post above, the Pachmayr will definately help with the recoil.

I'm shooting a 280 AI and it reduced the recoil of that round noticeably.

I have a Pachmayr set on my Encore .308 ! Can't tell you much about it because I put them on at the start and it's my first Encore. I like them and they feel good...........like said before........the fit is not the best !!

I really would like some of the custom laminated grips but I am worried about the recoil with them. If the Pachmayr's help "a lot"............then I do not want to go backwards any............the .308 with Pachmayr's is enough in my book !!!

I had my factory walnut grip replaced from T/C, because it cracked from shooting with my 454 Casull, now I use a set of pachmayr grip/forend.  I love the feel and sling swivels.  The only thing i don't like is how the rubber squeaks on my leather palm gloves.  I need to find a good wool or fleece glove for hunting with my Encore pistol.

Gemsbok, What caliber are you shooting ? I am really wondering if those grips are comfortable enough to shoot with a .308 ? I really want a set of Jim's grips !

I can't comment on Pacy's as I haven't tried them,,,but

I had the same problem  as above, the grip just didn't fill the had enough I figured. Whether that be be the case or not, they just didn't have a good feel. I bought a grip and forend from Boyd's just to experiment with as they were a little cheaper, before going to some of the custom guys around.
The grip was a little large for my hand, which turned out to be a good thing. With about an hour and a Dremel, I added finger grooves reworked the palm and the web area, along with deepening the thumbrest some.
It made all the difference in the world. My groups shrunk, and I no longer get bloodied. Perceived recoil seemed to be about 1/2 of that with the factory grip.
