John,
Welcome, this is a great site.  A whole lot of knowledgeable folks here.  I'm not familiar with the 58 cal. but I do know that the 50s have two different size breech plugs, 7/8 and 5/8.  The smaller being the newer guns.  As far as a gasket goes, never heard of one.  Someone else here many know.

Good to have ya,

John,

Welcome!  Sounds to me like you have the push-in type breechplug, as does mine which appears topmost on my avatar.
Check these threads for .58 Huntsman talk:

Take note of this vendor who definitely offers replacement breechplugs and gaskets like yours AND 209 primer holders for them:
http://www.hubbardsoutdoorproducts.com/
They also make a replacement ramrod that is vastly superior to the O.E.M. item.

Also, should you prefer or if need be this musket cap nipple also works in the .58 breechplug: http://www.gunaccessories.com/ThompsonCenter/ReplacementNipples.asp

Both musket caps and 209's work fine with the fat firing pin the .58 wears.

Good Luck With It! ;)

Thank you guys for the quick reply on my questions. But I got 1 more to ask.I saw a 50 cal barrel for sale on here, can i just buy it and pop it on without any fitting? #al217113 is the serial # of the gun.
I need a ramrod+back sight too. The one for sale has all of that already to go. Then i could take my time to fix this 58.I have another 58 that needed the back site ramrod and I bought this one without the plug for those parts about 10 years ago and hate to see it setting there useless.  John

If I understand you right, your plans to swap parts between the two .58's should pose no difficulty.
As far as mounting a newer .50 cal barrel on one of your older Huntsman frames, no way... it simply won't mount.  :-\

The original Harrington & Richardson Co. (before bankruptcy and reorganization) manufactured the Huntsman back in the '70's.
They were available in .45 cal, .58 cal. and 12 gauge.
The under barrel mounting lug of those arms and the corresponding channel in the frame are narrower than the centerfires of the same period.
This was meant to render the Huntsman line as muzzleloader only,  technically "non-firearms" needing no background search, waiting period, etc. for purchase, I believe.

The NEW Huntsman and centerfires are of the wide configuration as were the old centerfires.
Only muzzleloading bbls. of the '70's era, with the narrow lug will mount on your .58 receivers... and probably need fitting besides.

Your "AL" serial number prefix indicates a 1973 vintage. See this thread (FAQ's) in the NEF/H&R Centerfire forum for this and much other helpful info:  http://www.gboreloaded.com/forums/index.php/topic,26264.0.html

Hope this helps.  :)
