Mohawk , ...thats an interesting sight...good stuff. As you said , appears the 586 was disc. in 80. His actual model designation is 586-7 , least that's what it says inside the crane. It came with the blue plastic box , paperwork , and 2 H/K speed-loaders , and the original grips. The original grips are a wood combat style grip , walnut I believe, with the S & W emblem of course. It presently wears Hogue ( I think ) rubber finger groove style grips. This is getting sort of interesting....I'm sure his revolver is newer than 80....as I said somewhere in his paperwork it says either 05 or 06....when did they go to the blue plastic boxes.....my older 686 came in a cardboard box. BTW the blue plastic box has the ser #, etc , on it....assume its original. Thanks for the help , Mohawk , you've been very helpful. Just thought of something else.....it has 2 keys with it, they fit in a small hole on the left side near the hammer , a type of security lock....where you can lock the hammer. I'm sure that is a newer style gizmo .....thanks again.
