What kind of "predator hunter" wouldn't be proud to show their hunting rig?
I see 35 people came to see pics of hunting rigs. I don't have one yet or I would have posted a pic.
Show us your pride and joy, "PREDATOR HUNTERS". Rise and show your pics, PLEASE.

I have had a lot of different calling rifles over the years.  First was a Ruger 77/22H in 22 hornet.  It was great with 40gr vmax, actually shot a fox with it the first night I had it.  A Ruger 10/22mag  that saw a lot of night use and even ran an AR15 for a while.   They all worked well, the main thing always was accurate, light, and handy.  In areas where fox will be the only predator on the menu, kodiak and some of the other islands where there are no coyote or wolves  and some places back in the lower 48 where center fire rounds aren't legal for night use   the 17 HMR has become a real sweatheart.

I have a Marlin 17v w/3-9 scope that will regularly hit a 20oz pop bottle out to 200 yards.
The 17gr hornady ammo does a great job on fox with very little pelt damage.

Here is a pic before and after camo painting

I had a bushmaster modular 16 with Eotech in 223.  It was very handy but not practical for longer shots much over 100 yards.

A super accurate DPMS 24" super bull with nightforce 5.5-20x56.  Very accurate but impractical due to weight.

A remington 700 SA with 3-9 burris ballistic plex in 223.  Decent overall rig but never took a real shine to it.

I had an encore in 223, and another one in 22-250.  The 22-250 was a real tackdriver!

My favorite predator rig by far is a remington 600 mohawk in 222 w/ 3-9 leupy compact.  Its short, light, handy, and deadly accurate.  40gr Vmax @ 3100fps has worked as well as anything else I have ever used.

Almost forgot that extremely important predator gun.  870 Supermag 3.5" 12ga.   Heavy shot "dead coyote" is the bomb!

TheBear_78,

Thanks for taking the time to post your pictures. Being from Canada's prairie area, I might be more inclined to use the 222 Mohawk. What barrel length is the Mohawk?  It looks like a great calling rig. Great collection!  8)

The 222 has a 18" barrel.  I don't have all of these rifles any more.  I got rid of the heavy AR, and gave the lighter AR to my dad, sent that rem 700 down the road too.  I either use the 12ga or the 222 all the time now.    The  trick is you really want something light enough to carry around and flat shooting and accurate enough for shots out to 300 yards.  Your average shot will probably be less than 100.

Larry,

That is a sweet little rig you have there. What caliber did you have to re-chamber to get that?

navylawdog:  This is a stub project using a .410 VersaPack barrel and stock, an SB2 Frame and a 17 Cal Clerk HMR barrel chambered to 17 Rem Fireball.  I am loading up some 20gr Dogtown bullets tonight, I have only shot factory ammo until now, but it is very good.  I will post some targets when I shoot them.  Larry
