finally patterned turkey gun
« on: April 02, 2008, 04:28:51 PM »
well, i finally got a chance to go out and pattern my Pardner Turkey Gun (sb1f12). I took out some Remington Nitro Turkey, and the Federal Turkey with the new shot-wad in 4's and 5's. First was the Rem. Nitro #4 and DAAANNNGGGGGGG - thought I was shooting
my son's 300winmag with full loads. Those 3inch babies kick. Fortunately, my gun really liked the 2 3/4 Federal #5 shot and got anywhere
from 18-28 pellets into the kill zone on turkey silhouette Targets. Didn't like the Federal #4's at all with big holes in pattern. The Nitro's
didn't pattern all that well either so guess I'll be using the Federal 2 3/4 #5's this turkey season.
This will be my first turkey hunt and hopefully I'll get a chance at one.
