Different grips for a Blackhawk?

  Anyone found a different/Better grip for the Blackhawk? I do like my .357, but I don't care for the grip. It wants to roll around in my hand while shooting and I'm quite sure that it would be plenty more accurate if I could get a better grip on it.

I put a set of Pachmeyers on mine. I think they're the presentation grade ones. Hogue makes some good ones also.

The idea behind the "plowhandle grips" ,on a SA revolver, is so it CAN roll in your hand. Less recoil transferred to your wrist and arm that way.

I put a set of these on mine and find that the Blackhawk is much easier to handle.

They aren't the prettiest, but very functional and fit my hand well.  When I say they aren't the prettiest, I mean they could have done a little better fit to the pistol.  No big gaps, but if you look, there is a little gap in one place.  I'll try to take a couple of pics this weekend.

The "plowhandle" single-action grips were designed that way for two reasons:

To let the gun roll up in recoil ILO back into the shooter's hand, and

To let the gun rotate up so as to place the hammer spur under the thumb of the shooting hand to enable a rapid second, etc, shot(s).

The proper grip for one would be to allow the small finger of the shooting hand to curl under the bottom of the grip/frame.
That finger would then have the leverage to help pull the gun back down out of recoil as the thumb cocks the revolver and the eyes align for the subsequent shot(s).


If your SA recoils harder than a .357, then do the same thing - but wrap the non-shooting hand around the front of the shooting hand's fingers, below the trigger guard.
It's also somewhat easier to cock the hammer with the thumb of the non-shooting hand, when using the two-handed method.

 I know it's been said twice but I gotta reiterate...the gun is supposed to roll up in your hand.     Just let the gun do what it's supposed to do.   As for the accuracy, don't just blame the grip, all too often ppl blame the gun and don't look at their method of shooting it. 
  Rubbers...they simply don't belong on such a design.  well, ok, maybe for the real hot loads in the larger calibers but otherwise, they simply deserve the more classy stuff.
  Which gripframe is on yours?  Rather is it a stad BH or the 50th ann model?  For some, the differtn grip frame makes a difference as does the slimmer grips.

Here's a pic of my Ruger Superblackhawk Hunter in 44 Rem Mag with a Hogue Monogrip on it.  Even with the Monogrip, I let the gun roll up in my hands as the gun was designed to.  No sense in fighting it...You won't win, especially with full house 44 Mag loads.  I know that rubber is ugly on a single action, but function trumps beauty on this hunting gun.

have the same houge grips as pictured above I am very happy with them especially when shooting hot 45 colt loads

I like the wooden grips better, even though the FUGLY Hogue grips take up felt recoil.
