Tired of Semi Autos Jamming
« on: April 03, 2008, 06:46:34 PM »
Been using friends semi autos and tired of them jamming several times every magazine. 22 bolt actions don't jam but kinda boring due to the slow fire rate. Friends just got Henry Lever 22 so hopefully less jamming and faster shooting meaning more fun. I kinda like old fashioned actions such as single action revolvers but again is new to lever actions. I like the old west feel and look, nostalgic. The only semi auto that friends have that does not jam is a ruger but only with certain ammo.

I'm with you on that one, love those classics!!  I have the semi's, pump's, and lever rimfire rifles, and I tell you, the henry lever sure does get out the most!  It may be cause it's my only gun in .17HMR.   ;D   But, it is a good shooter, that is for sure, and when you go through that actions, working that lever and the technique that it takes to make you get back on the sight... makes you feel one with your gun.

Corbanzo, How accurate is your 17hmr Henry. I have thought about one but have been holding out for a bolt action Savage.

It surprised the hell out of me how accurate it is.  The second day I had it, we found a nice white rock on a hillside.  We estimated it at 80 yards or so, about 2" wide.  We had a good rest off of a chunk of cement.  We had trouble missing the rock with my .17, both me and my buddy.

BUT, that same buddy has a bolt action .17 with a scope that will keep up with my golden boy, and with the scope beat it at range of course.  I'm pretty sure I could over take him with a scope on there though.

If I were to use it to hunt small varmints and such I would defiantly look into some good optics. This is the only time I would say use the BSA brand scope. Look into the Sweet .17 series of scopes if you are looking at something cheap otherwords look into a Leupold Rimfire or Nikon for higher end.
