Lloyd, it costs a little more to do as you have to cut the ejector housing/rod down also, but you really should try a 4" barrel. Boy do I love that length on a single action! And if you work from the original 5 1/2" you have to cut shorter than the 4 5/8" anyway to clean up the front sight slot in the barrel on a fixed sight gun. With an adjustable sighted Ruger, it wouldn't matter with their usual front sight base. Anyway, just my 2cts. When I get the next Gaucho out of layaway (blued 5 1/2" barrel for $200), it will end up with the tube being 4". 44 Man.
