Remington currently markets Russian made Spartan and LC Smith branded shotguns as well as H&R pumps and Auto's made in China. I foresee a day when the H&R/NEFs single shots will be made abroad as well.

I guess that those of us are going to have to hang on to the ones we have and trade between ourselfs. I will not buy onr that is made outside the USA, and I have nothing against foriegn weapons( Browning HP, FNFAL) just not the NEF

Hopefully it doesn't come to that.

Although I've seen in the Southern Ohio Gun fliers an H&R Pardner clone that apparently is from Chin already. They don't say much about it but its advertised along with other Chinese shotguns.

Guns are one of the few things left where we can buy American. I won't buy anything made overseas when it comes to guns.
I enjoyed supporting a manufacturer who was right in my backyard. We can only wait and see what Remington does.

back when it started i was hoping that rem, would use H&R/ nef for a raplacementto the spartan line of ugly guns ahhaha as normal i was probobly wrong, they H&R line and NEF will be like a win line , instead of a pre 64 model we will be lookin for a pre- china gun, i wont buy any from china garunteed !!!!

I am pissed too. Taking a smaller business, and supposedly just moving it. What for to save on the heating bill......................and to hell with the dedicated people at NEF. It's time that Corporate America recognized that they owe something to people who build things.......................the problem is these guys have more money than brains.

I will NEVER buy a Chinese made firearm. Like many have said, guns are pretty much our last American made product, except for the knives that I make myself.

I think it stands to reason that either the spartan or the H&R will cease to exsite, why have to different single shot rifles, if i know these big co.'s it will be H&R because they are already set up to build the spartan in Russia

China's steel isn't near as good, thats why they import so much steel from the USA, to mix with their junk they have already.... no thanks, dont want no Chinese barrels.

Remington is owned by the three headed dog that guards the gates of hell. Cerberus. Why not contact Cerberus Corporate and let them know just how unhappy you are with the decision. You might be surprised the power the thousands of NEF members registered at this site could have with Cerberus and in term Remington on this issue. I doubt you have a lot of time to act however. Copy Remington corporate on your comments to Cerberus.

Hit this with e-mails, phone calls but especially hand written letters. Their importance to the guys in charge are in that order. One letter is worth many phone calls and one phone call is worth many e-mails. Hit them with all. Be polite but firm.

In general I do not mind imported guns. I like to buy American but if American companies can't make a decent product for a decent price them they deserve to lose business. That is Capitalism. One reason American products cost so must now that unions have raised the cost of manufacturing products. If we are to be competitive in the world market we must keep costs down and quality up. I buy my guns accordingly. I see that we are slowly learning, thats good. Remington has some new rifles out that are still accurate and reliable rifles but they have lowered the production cost. Savage makes a fine product for a good cost.

Your missing the point Foggy...The question was asked...and we are just trying to answer it..If...they are planning on doing what many of us suspect..then they will suffer the back lash from it...While it may not matter to them...it sure as hell matters to many of us.

Most gun owners are happy to pay a premium for our guns, that's why most are still made here. I wouldn't have any problem paying 25 bucks more for an H&R if it is a good gun and shoots good. I bought my first H&R for my 11 year old son and didn't shoot it yet. It's an ultra light 243 youth with composite stock. It's the one that weighs 5.3 pounds. If it shoots 2" or maybe even 3" groups it's good enough for Wisconsin deer. I payed 250 bucks with mounts and rings and taxes. It was at a Sportsmans warehouse closing. What else could a guy ask for? and to be able to change barrels for 125 or so? If H&R needs to raise the price a bit to keep up the quality up and in the states I will gladly pay it cause when it says China the quality won't be there. I have a Chineese pliers and it's junk! They won't make a good barrel.

under Clinton's executive order i don't think that Chinese are allowed to ship guns to the u.s. As for quality i have a norinco 22 that will shoot with the best of them and their 1911 clone is considered one of the best.

Sorry...that isn't the case that I have had with both the Norinco 22 and 45acp clone...While the 22 did ok accuracy wise..if was subject to fouling jamming like no other 22 I have ever owned..and to the cloned government model...the only time it shot good was after replacing damn near every part on it.. Buying a foreign made gun isn't something new for me..and as to buying other Chinese products..I have and will continue buying some things from them.Some of these are excellent products..and can only bought from them...but...as far as the NEF's go...NO...I won't...It's a issue I have when a large corporation decides to buy a company and move it..instead of putting the resources into factory there..Granted it isn't in an ideal state for the gun industry..BFD...it's still about disrupting all of the lives of the folks who work for them there...and taking the taxes and wages out of a community...

It's their company now...and they can and will do as they see fit...but..besides angry calls & letters of protest...we can do a hell of a lot more to show them just how we feel...and that is simply not to buy anything from them...and when a company realizes that enough folks are telling them they won't buy any of their products...not just the NEF's because of what they are doing...they tend to listen more... so be sure to tell them that...because they do sell other things besides the NEF's...

My personal dislike of the Reds aside, I have a Norinco JW-15 .22 rifle, it will pick off .38spl cases at 50 yards. My ChiCom Makarov has fired over 2000 rounds without fail and if I am shooting slowly and deliberately it will hold tighter than my E. German Mak. Conversly I used to work at a place where the boss was infatuated with ChiCom tools; they were unmitigated garbage. The ChiComs will make whatever the contracting company wants them to make, good bad or otherwise.

I think the CHICOMS are the best at coping anytjing, if you say i want it exactly like this, it will be.
If you say just make a gun or pliers or pipe wrench, you may not get what you wanted.
It just burns my butt that some one can't say China you sell and ship xxxxxxx billion dollars worth to
the U.S. then you are going to buy the same amount. What is wrong with my thinking, i some times think i must be crazy. When does FAIR TRADE come in not just FREE TRADE?
