I just picked up the overrun 140 grain 7mm bullets from Midway. $15 per hundred. The order info says spitzer, but the 500 they sent me are all Boat tail. Just thought some of you 7mm shooters might want to take advantage of it. I loaded up some for my TCU, so I'll see how they work out in a couple days if the weather holds. Heck, I'll probably still shoot if I have to get soaked: just means less other guys on the range to wait for.
So here's my question: my birthday is coming up and I'm going to sell a mini 14 to buy a new project. I've been looking at encores for a couple of months now, but I have a predicament. I just got my 7mm set up for my contender. I also have a 3030 barrel. so what caliber do I need to punch paper and the occasional varmint?I was thinking about something flat shooting like a 25-06, but I know y'all have some better suggestions. I'd like something that I can find or make brass for easily. cheap to shoot is a plus. Thanks for any help.
